Summoners!
Our first initiative aimed at freeing up inactive summoner names was a smashing success, releasing over 300,000 summoner names that were registered to level 1 accounts and that hadn’t logged in for over 90 days. There are still inactive accounts out there, however, and we’d like to release even more of these summoner names to our active players.
So, in response to player feedback, we’ve decided to expand the criteria surrounding what constitutes an inactive account to free up even more summoner names. Over the course of the next two weeks we’ll be sending an email to every summoner under level 4 who hasn’t logged in in over 60 days. These summoners will have until Sunday, November 27th at 07:59 UK Time to log in or their summoner name will be released for use by the community.
If you’re in possession of an account that falls under these parameters, you’ll be receiving an email in the coming days informing you that you need to log in in order to preserve your summoner name. Should you fail to do so before the deadline, you will lose your summoner name but your account will remain intact and won’t be affected in any other way. You will simply be prompted to create a new summoner name the next time that you log in to PvP.net. Accounts will not be deleted.
Following the patch scheduled for the end of November, we will begin releasing those summoner names that remain inactive following the deadline. The process may take up to 48 hours to complete depending on how many summoner names still haven’t been logged in, so be sure to check back after the patch for more details on how things are progressing! We will be sure to let you know when we start the process of releasing the inactive names, as well as when the process is completed.
