With IntelEM Kiev on the horizon, many eSports organizations are scrambling to seize this final opportunity to secure a spot at the IntelEM World Championship in Hannover, Germany. This, combined with a few changes to the IntelEM tournament bracket, has made for an interesting week in the League of Legends eSports scene.
In the wake of A Picture of a Goose’s announcement that they will be unable to attend IntelEM Kiev for personal and financial regions, Curse Gaming was offered the open position and will be able to attend in their place. In addition, there was a licensing dispute surrounding team CLG.eu, formerly known as mTw-AL, which resulted in the license lapsing. The ESL has informed us that SK-Gaming, the fourth-placing team in the final qualifier, will be attending IEM Kiev in their stead.
With that spot at IntelEM filled, however, Invictus gaming also announced that they would be unable to accept their qualifying spot in Kiev. Currently, the ESL has yet to announce a replacement for this last-minute change in lineup. Unfortunately, this will almost certainly close the books on the World Championships in Hannover for iG.
After losing several members to the newly formed CLG.eu, SK Gaming has announced their new lineup going into IntelEM Kiev. SR kev1n will be joining the SK roster in top lane and SleezyWeezy will be taking over in the jungle. Finally, The Sypher League of Legends team has also changed banners, moving to Thermal Take sponsored team TT.esports.
Update: The ESL has announced that Sypher will be going to IntelEM Kiev in the place of Invictus Gaming. However, it is currently unclear what players Sypher will use to represent the team.
