One of the hidden gems in the community, Go4LoL has quietly run dozens of weekly tournaments awarding thousands of dollars in the process. And what’s more, they’ve recently announced their intention to double the prize money available in future tournaments! Go4LoL cups will now feature a $200 and €200 each week in North America and Europe respectively.
The History of Go4LoL
In 2006 ESL opened up shop in Germany featuring regular eSports competitions revolving primarily around Counter-strike, Counter-Strike Source and other popular gaming titles of the era. Today ESL stands asEurope's largest eSports organization.
ESL initially ventured out into the League of Legends field in September of 2010 announcing a competitive cup dubbed "Go4LoL" with unlimited participants and a 100 Euro main prize. In February of 2011 National ESL expanded operation to North America by opening up the Go4LoL series to the States, and all regions feature an active competitive scene.
For the Competitor
As it stands, Go4LoL provides a fantastic framework for competitive League of Legends play and viewership. Every Sunday a legion of teams compete for a $200 or €200 first prize and a spot to compete for a monthly grand prize of $500 or €500 in North America and Europe respectively.
Whether it's the thrill of victory or the hilarity of defeat, Go4LoL is one of the best proving grounds for burgeoning League of Legends teams to test their skills in a competitive environment.
Being a completely open venue, teams of all skill levels are welcome to join in the competition. However newcomers beware, it is not unusual for the best of the best to be seen in the ranks of the weekly stream. Teams such as Counter Logic Gaming, SK Gaming, Complexity, Team SoloMid, and FnaticMSI are no strangers to Go4LoL.
Teams should also be aware that the with the open format, participation is a serious time investment. So be prepared for a whole day of fun with friends and teammates.
Each week is a straight single elimination tournament.
